Human trafficking

Meghalaya Model -combating human trafficking through a comprehensive framework that engages stakeholders

Even though slavery was abolished over a hundred years ago human trafficking remains a vast global problem. Despite international agreements and a plethora of national laws on the issue it remains one of the fastest growing criminal trades in the world. Due to its cross border nature human trafficking requires cooperation and collaboration between states, if it is to be tackled effectively. However, throughout the world often anti-trafficking initiatives have failed to incorporate all stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking.

The Pixel Project

The Pixel Project is a global volunteer-led nonprofit marketing consultancy that aims to help end Violence Against Women (VAW) by providing pro bono social media outreach to raise awareness, time and volunteer resources for VAW nonprofits around the world.

Social media (ie Facebook, Twitter, blogs) used wisely can generate global awareness and fundraising opportunities for the VAW cause. However, social media is time and talent intensive. To be successful, this type of outreach requires frequent, relevant content and updates; viral marketing schemes; and a specific message tone.

Skin Care / Skin Trade ... changing the face of the world

The next disruption needed for preventing violence against women will come through a powerful combination of 2 worlds: the experience of business architecture and the heart and will of its social counterpart. This fusion of goods/services AND the advent of the social revolution creates a structure and platform for a powerfully synergetic causation…
Equal part Goods/Services + Equal part Social Issue = Sustainable, Synergetic Social Impact.

Or 1 + 1 = millions impacted.

Meghalaya Model -combating human trafficking through a comprehensive framework that engages stakeholders

The Meghalaya model addresses the problem on human trafficking of girls into the sex trade in India. The model recognises that due to its clandestine nature human trafficking can only be combated through a united effort from all stakeholders. The model is a multi-sector approach involving government, law enforcement, judiciary and civil society organisations that creates a comprehensive framework for combating human trafficking under the four “Ps” Prevention, Protection, Policing and Prosecution.

Daughters of Cambodia Cafe and Visitor's Center

At present, there is no public space dedicated to awareness and education about sexual exploitation in Cambodia, there is little outreach and public information available. The Cafe will fuse valuable on-the-job training and vocational skills with information about a prevalent human rights abuse. The space will also provide a highly valuable opportunity to retail product made at the Daugthers' center; an increase in sales will allow the program to expand to include more 'clients'.
