Natuurpunt and Lampiris go together for more nature in Flanders. We share the same values​​: a sustainable society, local roots and involvement and local employment. Natuurpunt and Lampiris jointly promote green energy while achieving more biodiversity in Flanders. A choice for durability in which members and customers share this green commitment.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Purchases of nature areas is the only real guarantee for a long term protection of nature. That is why Natuurpunt grants receive. To obtain those grants, Natuurpunt must demonstrate that there is a consensus for Nature in Flanders. In addition to the grants own resources are also needed for each purchase. This is why Natuurpunt is looking for partners who want to invest in the acquisition of Nature. Climate change is one of the greatest threats to our biodiversity. Therefore, is green energy also a theme on which Natuurpunt works. The only way to prevent a derailment of our climate is to save massive energy and to switch to green energy.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Natuurpunt and Lampiris developed different campaigns to raise funds for Lampiris' green energy. As incentive, Lampiris promised to invest for each new client in the purchase of a nature or in the realisation of a new forest, with Natuurpunt. This approach quantified the commitment of Lampiris and made the contribution of the new customer for Natuurpunt really concrete. Existing Lampiris customers who are members of Natuurpunt also save money for nature.
Impact: How does it Work

Lampiris launched through the media (radio) a campaign to attract new customers for its green energy. For each new customer, Lampiris donated an amount of € 6 that were used by Natuurpunt in 2012 and in 2013 to buy 20 m² and 5 m² nature. A great success: the new customers Lampiris spared in 2012 more than 250,000 m² for the project LIFE Natuurpunt Kleine Nete. In 2013, the action brought 20,360 sqm new nature in a natural area of ​​Natuurpunt that the customer could choose himself. In another action Lampiris donates an amount per customer who prefers a digital bill instead of a paper. Thanks to that, Lampiris planted in 2012: 422 new trees, and in 2013: 650 new trees. They take a lot of other actions.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Thanks to the good results of Natuurpunt Lampiris in Flanders, we hope to expand it to Wallonia. Therefore we want to enter into conversations with the Walloon sister organization Natagora.
