About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

When you never have peeled an orange, it can be fairly difficult and frustrating. The Think Train helps corporate to ignite their innovation process by "peeling" the first bit of the orange. By showcasing a prototype or blueprint for a new product or service we are helping corporations to innovate like start-ups. The healthcare system is under high pressure and is craving for innovation. By giving young talents, who have a passion for healthcare, the opportunity to work for 99 hours on a case from a healthcare corporate, we are providing them a channel by which they can showcase their skills, creativity and passion which can serve as a springboard for their carreer.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We are providing healthcare corporates a format by which they can ignite their innovation process. Healthcare corporate are coloring within the lines and are trapped within existing paradigms. By showcasing a blueprint or prototype for a new product and/or service which is validated and build within 99 hours we are launching their innovation process. The Think Train is a perfect opportunity for entrepreneurs, students and young professionals who love healthcare innovation to show the corporates what they are capable of and what they can achieve in a short periode of time. The Think Train can empower youngsters to kickstart their carreer or start-up related to healthcare innovation.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

The Radboudumc was looking for solutions to empower patients to take control of their obesitas problem. We identified trends and existing products and interviewed stakeholders. We came up with a new concept for a web application by which patients would be empowered to change their drinking patterns. We provided a blueprint of the application, which helped the Radboudumc to develop an application.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

After this summer we want to transform The Think Train into a start-up. Twice a year (summer and winter), trains with starters will ride through Europe in order to make an impact on themes such as Healthcare, Energy and Mobility. Furthermore, we will launch Fourmore: a social innovation agency by which 4 starters from different european countries will work for 4 days for a better world by igniting corporate innovation..
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

At the moment there are multiple innovation challenges related to Healthcare in Europe. There is, for example, the sustainable healthcare challenge in the Netherlands and the Jump x Health challenge in Spain. Unfortunately, these challenges have no direct relation with the large organizations and therefore in most instances the best ideas or not transformed into reality. The Thinktrain differs from these challenges since we are linking the talents to leading healthcare challenges and we are making maximum use of the cultural and academic diverse backgrounds of the talents
Team

Team

At the moment the team consists of 4 ambassadors (in Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom) who are responsible for recruiting talents and organizations. These talents have established contacts with top managements directors from leading healthcare organizations who are enthusiastic about the concept and willing to invest. The ambassadors have experiences with setting up big projects and organizations in their own country and abroad. By making use of the existing connections with directors from leading healthcare corporations, we are securing sustainability
