About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The purpose of this website is to create a comprehensive platform for women particularly for unemployed women who have good skills in different fields (like cooking, embroidery, knitting, instructing languages etc.) and would like to share information about themselves and get suggest their services. In addition, they will be able to interact, chat and discuss new ideas and topics. Taking into consideration the patriarchal society of Armenia and high unemployment and migration rate in the country, there a lot of women who has to keep their children and need to have market for instance for their handmade products or services. This website will have different pages on women-related health and psychology, news, announcements on different training and opportunities & will be only for females.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

To be closed (since only registered members will have) the website will address all women-related issues of the society, will have on-line consultant service like a concierge, who will promptly advise or direct to the respective person/organization. The administration of the website will periodically organize on-line training curses, Will organize on-line charity events, for the particular member if she needs some help, like health problem, surgery etc. The website will enable women to show their handmade products and find consumers, business partners, friends, advice and employment.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Being active inn my society and having a lot of friends and network in my country, I am more than convinced that there is a lack in such a comprehensive, interesting, multi-functional and useful website for women, who can speak with each other, share their experience, learn from each other and build trust in their own community.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are some websites in the Armenian virtual sphere, however they are very targeted and narrow, one is for mothers only, the others are for teenagers, or there are websites only for healthcare issues, only on fashion, but my goal is to elaborate a combined and a unique website, which will become a tool for almost all women in Armenia to tell about her skills and learn something from others.

What has been the impact of your solution to date?

Women will be more independent and proactive in the society. They will be more informed, educated and open. They will be able to resolve their problems on their own and be more confident. As I have mentioned above we have a patriarchal society in Armenia, that hinders self-development of many women and a lot of able and skillful women remain under the pressure of their husbands or parents-in-low till the end of their lives. They need to be educated even sitting in their houses, they can earn money without leaving their houses or kids. They should be informed bout their rights and duties and be proactive even in the remote communities. Thanks to the technological reforms Armenia is in the first place among the South Caucasian countries in terms of internet users and computer holders.

What is your projected impact over the next 1-3 years?

more educated, informed, skillful and financially independent women in the society, which will become the cornerstone of a healthy society

What barriers might hinder the success of your project? How do you plan to overcome them?

the main risk is the lack of interest among local females which will be overcome by the hard work in terms of disseminating information, presenting the idea and spreading as much info as possible. some technical issues might be arose which will be solved by gathering a professional team.
