About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Honestly this social project is trying to address between two problem around us. First, the youth problem in preparing their career because he/she doesn't have space to share and learn about future career. Second, paper waste is the problem in the environment sector around us in college and not used.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution are separated to two aspects but still in one process social project. The main process to solve those problem as follows like that Pesawat Kertas team collect the student paper waste and it will be sold or dropped in Bank Sampah (trash bank) that operated by a group of women in Ngabean, Yogyakarta. Directly our social project will affect the community as long as we become the Bank Sampah member. Furthemore, the amount of money in Bank Sampah will be disbursed into educational programs for youth such as the facilities, books, and capacity building program (instill the dreams and future career accompaniment)

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

This project is still in the idea-stage and as soon as possible we will operate this program. Actually, this social project very easy to do and to duplicate in the other cities. We think that this project is different from the process indeed. We don't just collect the paper waste and distributed to the collectors but collaboration with Bank Sampah in Ngabean Yogyakarta. And we will utilize the sales and all of the profit to building the capacity among youth. Those hypothetical are very clear to prove that social project has double impact to the community.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

The future impact of this social project is very clear, almost people know that paper is very close to the daily life. In the college (Universitas Gadjah Mada) for example, every year this college is accepting approximately 7.000 students. If all student every week use not more than 20 paper for his/her work, numerously the paper waste will be produced. This result not included the thesis paper waste which we expect the amount more than daily paper work. So the future of this project will meet the sustainability.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

This project is very easy to duplicate and spread among youth by way of become volunteer. For the first pioneer will be started in Yogyakarta, and all people in Indonesia can duplicate our mechanisms. Within 5 years we think that this project can affect so many cities in Indonesia, especially the big cities which has alot of colleges and offices.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

This project doesn't need much money to start-up, because we have made the budgeting plan based on movement and togetherness. Let's make a calculation, if one student in Gadjah Mada put up one kilo of paper waste, and in Bank Sampah the paper waste price is 1400/kilo. So, if all student in Gadjah Mada (approximately 30000) join our social project, Pesawat Kertas will receive 42 million for implementing the social project.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

So far as well our project is very new and indigenous because we are offering double benefits.

Founding Story

The "Aha!" moment appeared when i was in the end semester in the college. I used alot of paper to consult my thesis and the paper just become a waste. So i decided to distribute my waste to Bank Sampah. Beachhead from that i shared my thoughts to my friends and they are supporting my ideas. So we think again and again to spread our ideas to the others, and we found that by a movement we can earn much money. Together to help each other our vision right now.

I'm the founder of this project, leading and preparing Pesawat Kertas launch to be start-up. Then, I have three persons to help my project (co-founder) each one plays as Social Media and Branding, Finance, and Secretary. I think that composititon is better right now, and the structure can develop after becoming start-up.
