Reverse is a shared management platform of waste, which seeks to engage people, institutions and companies to build a sustainable world, through a map indicating the proper disposal point of waste, a portal for awareness and education, and some waste management tools to the public sector.

WHAT IF we could extract the least possible from nature, having as main feedstock recycled waste, which has a direct impact on patterns of consumption, energy efficiency, climate change and pollution of the planet.
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The REVERSE plans to resolve the difficulty of finding the correct points of disposal of different types of waste, create tools for cities governments to manage their waste and environment, and inform, everyone that needs, about what to do with their waste, what changes when each one properly allocate their waste, the reality of poor people involved in the "waste market" and how environmental awareness is fundamental to sustaining life on earth.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Through a geolocation system will be presented on a map the closest waste discard points according to the filter set by user. The platform interface will display information about waste, sustainability, environmental mitigation and a marketplace addressed to companies of waste market. In parallel to the map, we have developed a software that assists the government to fulfill the local environmental legislation.

Impact: How does it Work

We are developing the Reverse Platform so that it benefits all sectors of society. Once there is a HUGE gap on the issue of waste, there is also plenty of opportunity to solve problems of various agents. On our platform the INDIVIDUALS benefit once they find a map, very simple, where they find where and how to take their waste. Many people have batteries, lamps, electronics, etc, kept at home not knowing what to do with it and understand that they can not throw in the trash. Simply access the platform that it indicates, through the geolocation, the closer points to discard their waste. COMPANIES find on the platform a marketplace, where they can advertise their activities to all that users.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

So far we've put the map online, averaging 50 daily hits. Close partnership with two foundations of the environment in two different municipalities, where we perform actions for environmental awareness and intervention in urban events, being responsible for garbage collection and education. We also entered into partnership with two companies to prototype part of the solution that we have developed

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Our Big Dream is to map all the points of collection of the world's waste, creating a global network of cooperation by recycling garbage affordable for anyone. Our indirect impact is massive. Each waste reintroduced in the production chain is a small step towards a major shift in the global scenario of raw material extraction. The current model, which runs just like the retrograde system of the last century is unsustainable and needs to be changed for the maintenance of life on Earth.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Reverse intends to make its financially sustainable model by creating partnerships with companies that deal directly with waste, through monthly subscription plans, quarterly or yearly, The tool is called REVERSE Companies. By hiring the Partnership Plan, our customers will be highlighted on the platform, "green marketing", monitoring their respective environmental permits and other benefits of exposure in an innovative digital platform.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Yes. To our knowledge there is, and But in all of them is a little hard of a person entering and quickly find what to do with their waste. Most are geared towards companies that generate waste, creating solutions that involve receiving a % of contracts signed between generators and waste collectors. That is, they attack the same problem, but in isolation and with specific agents, with little intuitive and user-friendly solutions.

Founding Story

After a visit to a landfill, I and some friends were very touched by the situation of people who are daily affected by these issues. We experience the problem of recycling cooperatives and understand in a very obvious way that if everyone does their part regarding waste disposal, the lives of entire families would be improved. The experience was too strong to do not do anything about it. Thinking about how we could help society to properly dispose their waste and take quality information on this issue for more and more people, we created REVERSE.


Our team consists of a very committed multidisciplinary team. The founders are: Christian Engelmann, academic of Computer Science, Law former student. Have experience with volunteer (AIESEC, CHOICE movement, research groups), and seeks to combine what know about technology for solving social problems. Full Time representing REVERSE. jeison Cechella, academic of Environmental Engineering and a pragmatic idealist who believes in entrepreneurship as a means of transformation. Very engaged with student movements (Academic Center, MEJ, CHOICE Movement, CREA jr.), Has experience in environmental issues having worked with the Brazilian Government Agency for Law Enforcement for the resolution of conflicts in the area. Thulium Magnus, Academic Environmental Engineering, believes in the transformative power and impactor network and not afraid when it comes to learning something new. Very engaged with student movements (Academic Center, MEJ, outreach programs), Has experience in environmental issues having worked with the Brazilian Government Agency for Law Enforcement for the resolution of conflicts in the area. Mentor: Mario Guadagnin, Agronomist, Master in Urban and Regional Development and Environmental Management, Academy Professor, Consultant Solid Waste Management and Environmental Management (Including for the Ministry of the Environment).
