About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

There is massive unemployment in Nigeria. The National Bureau of Statistics in Nigeria says that " those within the working age, who are willing, able and actively looking for work, increased to 74.0 million" in the country as of 2nd quarter of 2015. Besides this fact, we discovered in our research that many people in Nigeria does not understand what social entrepreneurship is about not to talk of taking advantage such initiative.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We are proposing a foundation that will create initiatives, in conjunction with a network of social entrepreneurs and the sponsorship by well meaning organizations, that will help the teeming unemployed youths understand and become social entrepreneurs, as well as drive them to see potentials in everyday challenges faced within their communities for rewarding and sustainable entrepreneurial or career options.

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

We will celebrate successful social entrepreneurs through an award platform and get them to join our network of social entrepreneurs with the aim of helping others become social entrepreneurs; we will create exciting information about social entrepreneurship by sharing stories of how they became successful through regular publications; we will have competition where youths will submit solutions to challenges within their communities and then nominate the best entries/solutions that will win prizes that will help them take advantage of the challenges to become social entrepreneurs who will then join our network of social entrepreneurs that will inspire others to also join the fray, etcetera.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

Through our works and initiatives, we will continue to increase the knowledge base and opportunities for the youth within the country to become social entrepreneurs. We will help a minimum of a hundred people per annum for the next three years become social entrepreneurs. This increase by at least 20% annually thereafter.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Our main strategies are in the initiatives that will continue to evolve and speak the language of its time for maximum impacts.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Every initiative/project aimed at helping our targets is a product on it own and will each be driven for tremendous value. We will continue to work with and seek sponsors and partners for the initiatives/projects. We will position the foundation to be a sought after brand for companies seeking corporate social responsibility partnerships that works within and outside the country.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

How this idea differs from others: We are focused on helping people help people to help people make the world a better place in a manner that ensures people understand and look at everyday challenges as opportunities for rewarding and sustainable career path.

Founding Story

The "Aha!" moment happened as we analysed the results of our brainstorming session on the possible ways to get people to know of and take advantage of social entrepreneurship. We discovered numerous opportunities that can be explored hence our dilemma in choosing the best solution that will ensure more people become social entrepreneurs. As a result we noticed immense value and came to a conclusion to rather create a platform that will allow us use as many initiatives as possible to scale the process of producing more and more social entrepreneurs. We even came up with a self-sustainability model while we were at it.
