Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

World-wide Voices of Justice Advocacy and Activism

ES will assemble video, photos, and audio from all over the world and create documentary motivational productions which document any social justice issue. We make these available on the internet free for use by anyone.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

There is a shortage of well-documented injustices and abuses. Visual and face-to-face contact with injustice has proven highly motivational for involvement. ES intends to serve as a catalyst for activism around the world.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

By using volunteer "I-Justice Partners," we will create intimate pictorial documentaries of injustice anywhere. We will create professional, high-quality videos assembled from contributions from our individual volunteer partners, making these available to anyone at no charge on the internet. DVD's will also be available.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

ES calls for submissions related to Unequal Education of Women. Submissions may be video and photos (including from cell phones), audio, and written stories. Emerging Spirit selects, edits, and assembles the submissions, writes and records scripts to tell the story, and may interview knowledgeable people. A documentary is assembled with professional software (target length: one hour), and is released onto the internet with broad announcement. ES makes DVD's available also. The production will be supported by written material posted on the website.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

The documentaries will be able to bring people (especially people of faith) face to face with injustice. It does not depend on receiving congregational support or denominational endorsement; they will be designed to appeal to individual hearts and minds and motivate individual involvement in solution-finding.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Emerging Spirit intends to rely on volunteers in its work, partners with us around the world. We expect there to be a virtually endless supply of people willing and eager to submit resources. We will network with other organizations as appropriate. If and when we need financing, we will rely on advertising and grants. We already have a "Do Not Donate" button on the website, to emphasize that we want time and talent, and are not here to make money

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Based on our knowledge and research, we don't believe anyone is addressing social justice in this way.

Founding Story

It was during a visit with migrant farmworkers in southern Florida that I came face-to-face with unimaginable injustice, and have since come to realize how powerful that is. One cannot easily look injustice in the face and then turn away. It's too easy to give money. More and more people understand injustice and our videos are designed to bring each as close as possible to a real situation that calls for activism.
