About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

In Japan in 2011, less than 10 billion dollars where donated by individuals to NPOs, while more that 200 billions were donated in the United States. It is true that the concept of donation is relatively new in Japan and there are many reasons that can explain this difference. We realized that for many people, the common mindset is to believe that by only making a small contribution, the impact from a single individual cannot be significant. But what if it was not the case? i-kifu believes that we can change that mindset by making it more fun for everyone to contribute to the society.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Each contribution made on, whether it is promoting the NPOs on Facebook or Twitter to friends or making a donation to a project, will be rewarded with Karma Points and with give a reward to the most active users for their contribution to the world, in the forms of digital awards, badges and even real life benefits, which future partners.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Before donating online was "boring" and it was often a secret between the donor and the website. There were no interaction possible between donors, who might have the same interests. With we made it more social to donate by transforming any donors into a promoter. By using the power of social networks, we leverage the network of each user to increase the reach of the NPOs. When users make a donation on our platform, we created a unique Facebook application that thanks them for their contributions for all their friends to see. This way our users can be socially acknowledged for their good deeds.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Our competitors are: Our main weakness is that we are the latest player but we are confident that we strongly differentiate ourselves with 6 points. 1) Our website is the only bi-lingual website in Japan, which allows us to reach overseas donors 2) We strongly focus on user experience and made what seems inconvenient, much more easy (navigation, payment) 3) We focus on transparency, by making it mandatory for NPOs, who joined us to provide a monthly activity report to their donors. Each NPO will be rated by measuring how often they provide those reports. 4) We are integrating Facebook and Twitter to simplify the sharing process, in order to increase the reach of the NPOs on social networks 5) We make it more fun, by using gamifications concepts, in order to increase the loyalty of the users 6) Finally, our business model, make it appealing for corporations to support us and therefore allow us to give 100% of the donations to the NPOs.
