Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

Amazing how schools do fire drills, earthquake drills but no sexual abuse drills. This is the first structured initiative in Egypt focusing on raising awareness of kids, parents, teachers and social workers through the Safe School initiative targeting schools and nurseries.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

There is a clandestine acceptance of sexual abuse and little knowledge of its prevalence and consequences. People either are ashamed to speak about it and deny its existence, or are misinformed and unaware that it is a problem in the first place. The problem of sexual abuse has never been tackled in a structured and focused manner due to the culture of shame towards the subject in Egypt.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Prevention is better than cure. This initiative focuses on tackling the problem at its root through:a structured strategy by which to address all actors involved through education and media outreach. Various tools to educate and train children, parents, teachers, and social workers in addition to spreading knowledge about the topic in the media. First, a three-pronged curriculum was developed: one tailored for children, another for parents, and a third for social workers and teachers. Methodology focuses on defining the meaning of sexual abuse for people, who are misinformed and unaware that this is a serious crime, who is the abuser, signs and consequences of abuse, what to do when a case is reported, helping schools w reporting strategy
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

A child is taught many things. He is taught the names of all his body parts and the name for everything else. But, a child in Egypt is not taught the names of his body parts or taught about sexual abuse. When sexual abuse happens, the child has no name for what happened, nor how to handle it. He feels that something wrong happened, but no one spoke to him/her about it before. He/she is taught to respect and obey adults, so when abuse happens the child wonders if he needs to obey this too. Parents are too naive, unwilling to admit that this can happen to their children and, most cases from people they know. Teachers and social workers are probably the first people to hear about the sexual abuse from the child, but are not trained to handle it

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

Quantitative: •Printed 6000 Not Guilty books for kids ages 4-10 •Printed 500 Teachers’ manuals. •Wrote a training of trainers curriculum. •Wrote a curriculum for teachers and social workers. •Wrote a curriculum for parents. •Trained over 5000 (teachers, parents, kids, and social workers). •Set up a website(,a Facebook account(Not Guilty),a twitter account(@gheirmozneb) and a You Tube channel(gheir mozneb). •Filmed 23 TV episodes on abuse with Mohamed Diab “The Director of 678”. •Counseled 700 hours of sexual abuse survivors. •80 courses completed Qualitative:Schools and nurseries started realizing the importance of this training, since at every school or nursery we go,at least 25% have suffered some form of sexual abuse.Teachers divulge they have had cases they could not tackle. Schools ask us to help them create safety strategies. Kids learn how to say NO.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

This project is government schools and nurseries, thus are free, yet we give sterling training with sterling trainers, thus we financially want the trainers to want to come back and train with us. Training of Trainers is held twice a year.Fundraising, donations constitute 15% of our income. Book sales 15%. Partners & foundations constitute the rest. We need to find as many partners as we can. Will need the help of companies for sponsorships.

Founding Story

Little did I know when I started my Christian youth TV program that the Lord was taking me on a long journey. The youth program started on 10th April, 2007. It was such a great hit that we had 168,000 hits on our website the first month it was aired. We have filmed and aired 100 episodes until now. During those years, we have seen many youth come to the Lord, but we have also seen the problems and struggles that the youth are enduring. We had some who were sex addicts, pornography addicts, prostitutes and people who lost their sexual identity because they have been sexually abused when they were children. At that point I made a deal with God that I will NOT work with the sexually abused. But God had other plan ☺. In 2005, we went to South
