When it comes to reducing our dependence on cars, we may require a "cocktail" of solutions. A group called Equiterre started by Sydney Ribaux in Quebec invites Canadians to join what they call a "Cocktail Club" to help cut down their car travel. Visitors to their website can fill out a form and Equiterre will help them come up with a customized mix of transportation choices—including public transit, walking, biking and riding with other members—to get them where they need to go.
As a club, members share ideas, carpool with other members, and make themselves heard as a collective voice in the call for better funding for public transportation. Already, the Quebec government has responded to their call by earmarking a portion of the gas tax revenue for public transportation. Cheers to that!
