About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The project focuses on homeless people in local conditions, who are dependent on foreign aid mainly in the winter season. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs indicates the current number of homeless people around 30 000.The main problem of homeless people is their unemployment. Therefore, this project focuses mainly on providing employment opportunities for people that can hardly be employed, improving skills and helping their re-socialization

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The Intelligent emergency module is designed to be adapted to the requirements of all stakeholders. The core of the intelligent emergency module is made from old shipping containers 20DV which can, after appropriate technological treatment, serve as a temporary shelter for homeless people. The module, which is not electrified, can provide suitable conditions for up to 18 people in bad weather conditions. This project focuses on cities, municipalities and non-profit organizations as mediators of this solution. Therefore, the project is designed to minimize budget constraints of these organizations, while ensuring that work for the homeless in each region. Our solution can save up to 2/3 of costs compared to the current solution to this problem
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

The Intelligent emergency module is a direct replacement of the current solution, heated tents that domestic cities usually provide to the homeless in winter. This original form of refuge is very inefficient and expensive. To ensure refuge in this way other necessary services must be provided, such as fire monitoring (because the tents are flammable and are kept warm by heaters), organizational and last but not least medical background. A tent for 80 people costs approximately 1.2 million CZK for one season (three months), e.g.: 5 years of this solution costs 6,000,000 CZK. An Intelligent emergency module for 90 people (5 modules) costs 2,000,000 CZK for the entire 5 years.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

Using this project can save large financial resources. After the completion of this project ,these funds should be used for long-term solutions to this problem. This is a great advantage for cities that are trying to provide shelter for these people during winter. The largest added value of this project is the artificially created job opportunity that is just right for homeless people or those in social need.Another area is providing facilities for medical aid in third world countries. Thanks to the technical possibilities of our module,it can be used as a mobile,self-sufficient office. This solution was developed after consulting with doctors from Charles University.A rebuilt module is very suitable for this use.In addition,as in the Czech Republic, more job opportunities will be created, which will again be directed to people in social need, thus actively fighting against poverty.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Third world countries - many humanitarian organizations that focus primarily on preventing diseases and providing emergency assistance are located in these countries. Mobile offices created from our modules could improve the quality of their services. Refugee camps - for this situation, the modules can be used as temporary shelter as well as mobile offices. Humanitarian activities – the mobility and self-sufficiency of the module allows quick and efficient deployment in the event of natural disasters.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

In our country, we want to start with renting an Intelligent emergency module to cities and regions. Next step will be co-operation with other countries by franchaising.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Our project is unique thanks to our technical solution. The biggest cometitive advantage is the fact, that IEM (Intelling emergency module) is energy self-sufficient and very economic.

Founding Story

We don´t have any amazing "Aha!" founding story, we just put together our experiences from universities and passion for helping people. Then we started our project Intelligent Emergency Module and we are trying to progress step by step.
